I have handmade this traditional chair in the style of early 'Taum' chairs, the three legged corner chairs that date back over 200 years and were mainly to be found in the west of Ireland around the town of Taum. Early examples of this chair can be seen in the National Irish Museum in Dublin.

Hand made in Oak, this chair is of unusual construction, the back rest and back leg being made from a single board, steam bent to form a gentle curve, the triangular seat is made from four pieces of timber with pegged mortise and tenon joints. A feature of interest is the dog-toothed pegs to back and front stretcher.

Dimensions: seat H17 1/2" overall H40" - all sizes are approx. to ½”

This chair is made to order with a lead time of 3-4 weeks subject to timber availability.

As my chairs are all individually handcrafted I would recommend that you collect your chair in person to ensure that it is comfortable and suits your personal requirements. In the event that this is not possible a courier can be arranged at their then charges.

About us

bowtie

My interest in early Celtic country chairs developed over the years during my time spent living and working in Ireland, England and Wales; I have now settled back in England to continue my craft from my workshop in Shropshire.  My hope is that my handcrafted chairs will bring as much pleasure to you, the new owner, as I had in the making of them.
