My chairs are individually handmade in the style of early Welsh stick chairs, constructed from locally sourced hardwood, I use traditional tools and techniques. Each of my chairs is individual and unique.
The design of this 8 stick chair is such that, inspite of the fact that there are 8 sticks and turned stretchers, it is a very delicate, elegant chair of gently curved lines. The octagonal legs and turned stretchers are of Oak, the finely shaped seat is Elm as are the arms and crest, and the sticks are Ash, the contrasting wedged joints showing the skill of the craftsman. I pay much attention to detail to ensure that my chairs are as comfortable as they are aesthetically pleasing, so making a great addition to any home.
Traditional stick chairs are essentially very similar in design but just a few small changes can make a big difference to the overall look of a chair and so make it unique. The shape of the arms or style of the crest make a chair individual whilst still remaining true to tradition. If you would prefer a chair handcrafted to your particular design please view the 'options' to see how to customise your stick chair, alternatively contact me with your particular requirements.
Your handmade chair is made to order with a lead time of 3 - 4 weeks.
As my chairs are all individually handcrafted I would recommend that you collect your chair in person to ensure that it is comfortable and suits your personal requirements. In the event that this is not possible a courier can be arranged at their then charges.

My interest in early Celtic country chairs developed over the years during my time spent living and working in Ireland, England and Wales; I have now settled back in England to continue my craft from my workshop in Shropshire. My hope is that my handcrafted chairs will bring as much pleasure to you, the new owner, as I had in the making of them.
